Division of Entomology, S.K. University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Kashmir, Shalimar Campus, Srinagar, (J&K), 191 121 Abstract Application of different horticultural mineral oils viz., ATSO oil, DC Tron plus, PD spray oil, Ipol applied @ 1.5, 2.0 and 2.5% were compared with diesel oil emulsion (1:10) against San Jose scale, Quadraspidiotus perniciosus, in apple orchards at two locations in Kashmir under field conditions at Tailbal (Srinagar) and Hanjiweera (Pattan Baramulla) during 2002. All the horticultural mineral oils significantly reduced the scale population over the standard check, diesel oil emulsion. The mortality of pest was found positively co-related with the concentration of test treatment. PD spray oil, ATSO oil, DC Tron plus and Ipol resulted 97.39, 95.08, 98.13 and 91.41%; 82.59, 79.82, 80.38 and 79.24% mortality of the pest at 2.0% level in comparison to diesel oil (1: 10) 70.90 and 73.91% at Hanjiweera (Pattan Baramulla) and Tailbal (Srinagar), respectively upto 40th day after treatment. The bio-efficacy of oils evaluated were in the order of PD spray oil > ATSO oil > DC Tron plus > Ipol > diesel oil. Top Key words Apple, horticultural mineral oils, pest mortality, Quadraspidiotus perniciosus, San Jose scale. Top |
