Abstract The article analyzes the stages of historical development of the Uzbek family in the Middle Ages, historical and ethnographic features of family life, lifestyle, economic life and social relations between family members. It also covers the Uzbek family's neighborhood, mutual assistance, relational system between the large patriarchal family and some aspects of the national mentality, land and property ownership, number offamily members, role and place of the family in society. The article describes the location of the family of artisans living in the historical cities of Uzbekistan, such as Tashkent, Bukhara, Khiva, Kokand, Margilan, Termez, Nurata, the location of the population in urban areas, the traditions of family crafts in the Middle Ages, the influence of Islam on city life, a description of the place of mosques and the community of religious scholars in family life.
