Abstract Use of information technology in crime prevention and criminal tracking in the real time is the need of the hour. Data Mining is playing vital role in detection of crime. So as to assess the effectiveness of data mining in crime detection, the study of various tools/software used by the Haryana Police to draw the inference of mine of data in crime detection, the present study has been carried out. There are five sections in this study. The first section states the introduction. Various tools/software used by Haryana police has been discussed in the second section. The third section details the limitations. Scope of improvement in the system has been discussed in the fourth section and the last section states the conclusion.
