The expenditure on crop husbandry, dairy development, and agricultural research & education had a positive and significant impact on the state's agricultural growth, but the expenditure on soil & water conservation and forestry & wildlife did not impact it. The study confirms that the growth in the agricultural gross domestic product has led to the growth in public expenditure in agriculture. However, the lack of reverse causal flow from the total public expenditure to agricultural growth discloses that public sector expenditure in agriculture is not optimally allocated and needs reprioritization.
