Abstract

In the present study three combine models JD 030, JD 330 and Fahr were selected and repair cost analysis of different system was curried out. Emperical equation were developed to predict repair cost against years as well as hours of use. The average accumulated repair cost as percent of purchase price was found maximum in case of JD 330 combine which varies from 6 87 percent (1st year) to 33.77 percent (9th year). The variation in the average accumulated repair cost was obtained 3.07 (1st year) to 16.47 percent (eleventh year) for Fahr model and 1.55 (1st year) to 25.87 percent (15th year) in case of JD 630 combine model. The engine of combine alone required about 50% of total repair cost followed by transmission system (13.4%) culling and conveying system (10.7%), threshing system (9.2%) cleaning and elevating system (6.3%), hydraulic and steering system (5.0%), electrical system (4.1%), and misellaneous items 1.3%. (My 1) The Gompertz equation of the form C= ab0 was found suitable to predict repair cost of different systems of combine as well as total repair cost of machine against years of use. The repair costs for cumulative hours of combine use may also be determined if MY is substituted as (MII/607.58), (MII/369 36) and (MII/334 80) for JD 630, JD 330 and Fahr combines respectively.
