Abstract

In the present communication, a protocol was developed for rapid regeneration and multiplication of newly developed sugarcane variety CoS 07250. Three kinds of explants viz.; bud chip, shoot tip and leaf roll were taken for experimentation. Out of these, shoot tip explants emerged as the best explants for establishment of shoot culture and was selected for further studies. Cytokinin (BAP & Kn) at the concentration of 0.5mg/l in combination with an auxin (NAA) 0.5 mg/l were found most appropriate for mass multiplication of shoot cultures. However, the best rooting responses were recorded in presence of 5.0 mg/l of NAA followed by IBA and IAA. This protocol can be used for mass multiplication of sugarcane variety CoS 07250.
