Exploring psychologicalwell-being with reference to age and gender differences

Abstract

Due to cut throat competition in almost every sphere of life, it is becoming increasingly more and more difficult for every one of us to lead happy and healthy life. Cross-national surveys also reveal that health and happiness are the most important goals of any individual and society. It is evident that happiness is related to the satisfaction with life which is very much related to well being. In view of the above assertions, the present study was aimed to investigate psychological well-being as a function of gender and age differences ranging from 12 to 60 years. After tabulation of the data, t-test was used to see the gender differences with regard to well being. In the same way, well-being was also tested using as a function of age differences. The result of the study revealed that wellbeing amng adolescents and adult found to be significant on the basis of age only. The result obtained is further discussed and interpreted in terms of socio-cultural milieu prevailing in the present Indian scenario.
