A study of frustration among senior secondary students in relation to their vocational preferences and stream of study

Abstract

Present study was designed to ascertain the relationship between frustration and vocational preferences of senior secondary students. For this purpose a sample of 873 (436 male and 437female) senior secondary students, was randomly selected from schools of Aligarh district, U.P. Descriptive type of research design was employed for the present study. In order to obtain the requisite information needed for the study Frustration test and Samvaidhna‘s Vocational Preference Scale (VPS) was employed by the investigator. In order to find out the relationship among variables viz. Frustration, and vocational preferences, the Product Moment Correlation, t-test, and ANOVA statistical techniques were used by the investigator. Results were reported that no significant correlation was found between frustration and vocational preferences. It was also found that the vocational interest of male students is higher than female counterparts. Moreover, government school studentsshow higher vocational preference than private senior secondary students. Also, it was reported that the vocational preferences of Commerce stream students at the senior secondary stage was higher followed by science and arts stream students correspondingly.
