Abstract Modern day economies are turning out to be a complex network of economic activities mingled with the national interests and geo-politics of the regions concerned. West Asia is one such region where the economies are primarily single sectoral and hence very much dependent on the developed nations. The regional imbalances have also added to the political vibrancy and interest of the foreign nations in the region. The region is witnessing the diversification of its economies at a large scale and hence the increasing interests of the West especially the United States of America. This paper discusses the way foreign interventions are increasing in the Middle East and the economics of the diversification of the Gulf economies.
