Factors Influencing Job Satisfaction: A Study of Employees of Hotel Industry in India Dr. Kumar Sanjeev, Kumar Manoj, Sumegh Assistant Professor, Institute of Hotel & Tourism Management, Maharshi Dayanand University, Rohtak, India Online published on 7 November, 2013. Abstract Purpose The present study aims at investigating the various factors influencing job satisfaction of operational level employees working in back of the house areas in Indian Hotel Industry. Design/Methodology/Approach Apart from the review of literature and discussions with experts from Industry and Academia the primary data is collected with the help of a structured schedule, developed on 5 point Likert scale. To collect data the schedule is administered to the employees working in the back of the house areas of hotels situated in Delhi and NCR region of India. Further, to analyse the collected data factor analysis is used. Findings Respondents have considered monetary related benefits as the most important followed by job characteristics, Human Resource Policy and inter-personal relationship within the organization. Research Limitations Though the study is very useful for the employees as well as management of the sampled hotels in designing their human resource policies, but still the study has its own constraints regarding universe and sample size which can be taken up by future researchers. Originality/Value Though lot of researches are conducted on job satisfaction all over the world but there is a dearth of same in the area of Indian Hotel Industry and amongst them very few studies have touched this important issue.
