Some Aspects of Organised Manufacturing Sector of Haryana-Trends and Patterns

Abstract

Haryana enjoys special position on the industrial scene of the India and its contribution has been noteworthy given its area, population and even GSDP. The present paper explores the contribution of Haryana in the organized manufacturing sector of India. Using data from Annual Survey of Industries, Statistical abstract of Haryana and Central Statistical Organisation, the paper explores various dimensions of manufacturing sector of Haryana and compares it with other states and national averages. Using structural and technical coefficients, the paper investigates performance and efficiency of registered manufacturing sector of Haryana vis-à-vis national averages and other states. The paper computed location quotient and coefficient of specialisation to identify the industries forming industrial base of the state. The paper found that Haryana has continuously improved its position in the industrial landscape of India.
