Corporate Social Responsibility and Inclusive Sustainability: A Study of Indian Banking Sector

Abstract

Government as well as corporate sector started taking CSR as a strategic tool for making long term policies as they believe that this will lead to increase in financial performance and inclusive sustainability. But when it comes to banking and financial institution then financial inclusion and financial literacy dominates most of it. This study sets out to assess the corporate social responsibility of banking sector with respect to level of financial literacy among working women and Home-makers and to make a comparative analysis of the same. A questionnaire based research has been carried out with a sample frame of 300 participants consisted working women and home makers who are non-randomly selected. The data was analyzed using percentage and frequency, mean and standard deviation. The t-test was also carried out on the data in order to compare the level of financial literacy between both the target groups. The main findings of the study indicate that the levels of financial literacy in both the groups are all the more same. This research paper highlights the need for developing knowledge warehouse for financial awareness programmes. The study was investigated on women only so it may be less relevant to other group. This paper provides original information on a topic that is not well explored and identifies the needs to offer practical help to Central bank, Commercial banks and NBFC to create a financial awareness among women.
