A comparison among three age groups of mutual fund investorswith respect to selected criteria

Abstract

Investment decisions of individual investors and plethora of investment alternatives are always in struggling mode to find a perfect match for each other. An entire range of demographic variables and personal characteristics have been derived to have an impact on where would an investor's money go. This research specifically focuses on investors’ behaviour with respect to Mutual Fund as an investment avenue. This paper aims at comparing very fundamental aspects of investing in Mutual Fund. Age is the control variable in this study. This paper compares three age groups on various parameters like, choice of investment avenue, factors affecting investment, holding period in MF, proportion of MF investment in overall investment, selection of a specific MF, perception of risk in MF and preferred channel for MF. The paper finds out similarities and differences among the selected three age groups.
