Abstract Substance use has become prevalent in almost all countries. This study was aimed at understanding the Indian college going adolescent's attitude towards the substance use in terms of their self-approval or disapproval about others smoking, alcohol consumption and using drugs and its impact on their behavior. The present study also examined the demographical influence in developing their attitude and their knowledge about the risk factors involved in using substances, and the accessibility to them. The study used a sample of 250 under graduates enrolled in engineering first year. Sample was collected both from males and females with an average of 18 years.
