Domestic Violence on Women: Evidence from Iran

Abstract

Violence is "the intentional use of physical force or power, threatened or actual, against oneself, another person which either results in or has a high likelihood of resulting in injury, death, psychological harm, maldevelopment, or deprivation. Violence can take many forms, including physical aggression or assault (hitting, kicking, biting, shoving, restraining, slapping, throwing objects, battery), or threats thereof; sexual abuse; controlling or domineering; intimidation; stalking; passive/covert abuse; and economic deprivation. Domestic violence and abuse is not limited to obvious physical violence. Domestic violence can also mean endangerment, criminal coercion, kidnapping, unlawful imprisonment, trespassing, harassment, and stalking. While it is generally outlawed in the Western World, this is not the case in many developing countries. This paper is a descriptive study of synthetic type which 750 people were selected from women revisions style class random. Tools used to gather information through the questionnaire, which was completed by the conversation. In order to analyze the information was used descriptive statistical data and comprehensive deduction to test root Kay and Fisher exact test. Balance of domestic violence 86.6% (93.8%-89.3%,CI 95%),physical violence 28.7% (31.6%-25.7%, CI 95%), emotional violence 90.6% (92.8%-88.3%, CI 95%) and sexual violence, 42.4%,(45.7%-39.1%, CI 95%) there is a relationship between violence and some overall factors: age time of marriage for women 22 years old and less (P<0.001). age time man during marriage Less than 28 years old (P=0.026). Women's education Medium and less (P=0.019). drug consumption by the spouse (P=0.005). Cultural differences of women and their husbands (p=0.019), Consumption of medicines in women (p=0.05), and husband (P=0.007) and the number of times to abort the fetus (p=0.015). Conclusion: Given the proliferation of high domestic violence in this research and the existence of a relationship between some of the factors with violence and while there is an overlap to reduce violence results unneeded have on women's health, it is recommended that the guidance ordinary women, especially those women who in the course of danger, especially with violence family
