Yoga and Its Effects on Breath Holding Time of Women Students

Abstract

The main concept of the study was to quantify breath holding time to varied packages of yogic practices among Women College students. In order to achieve the purpose of the study 120 women students were randomly selected from Sri Padmavathi Womens Junior college, Tirupati. Their age was ranged between 16 and 20 years. The women students were equally divided in to three equal groups of 40 each as yoga group-I, yoga grpup-II and control group. The control group was not given any training. The experimental groups were undergone yogic practices for twelve weeks and six days in a week. The data were collected on selected dependent variable ie. Breath holding time before and after training period. The collected data were statistically analyzed by using Analysis of covariance (ANCOVA) and Scheffe's post hoc test. To test the significance 0.05 level of confidence was fixed. Based on the results of the study it was concluded that the second package of yogic practices were significantly improve the breath holding time than that of first package and control group. First package of yogic practices were significantly improve the flexibility and speed than that of control group.
