Abstract Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee is a statuary democratic ecclesiastical organization responsible for administration of Sikh shrines in Delhi. Fierce electoral competition is witnessed among different contestant, particularly between Akali Dal of Punjab and Delhi based Akali Dal for control over this organization. Whereas former lays claim as true representative of Sikh community on the other hand latter plays local card. January 2013 elections saw the victory of Akali Dal from Punjab after the gap of fourteen years. Researcher found that Delhi's Sikh population refused to be tagged to particular group rather displayed political maturity to choose leadership which safeguards its unique interests. Furthermore, it is also found that though the existence of democracy in ecclesiastical organization is advantageous as far as functioning of these bodies is concerned but it has perpetuated fault lines within Sikh politics.
