Abstract

This paper exhibits the improved performance of Rubberized Concrete Composites (RuCC) compared to the conventional concrete. Performance test have been carried out for analyzing the structural behavoiur of concrete composite replaced with chiseled waste truck tyre rubber as coarse aggregate with varied weight fraction between 2% and 10% of coarse aggregate in steps of 2%. The experimental study which includes the mechanical, flexural and ductility characteristics of RuCC with respect to the load, formation and development of cracks, crushing of compression concrete and yielding of tension steel. The test results proved that the RuCC exhibit higher ultimate stress than that of conventional concrete. It shows the evidence of effective control of cracking and exhibits excellent ductile behavior with a ductility index ranging between 2.07 and 4.61. In accordance with the experimental results of RuCC beams, a simple empirical equation is created and suggested a model to predict deflection for further development of RuCC practice.
