Abstract

This paper presents the utilization of partially treated textile effluent as mixing water in OPC and fly ash concrete. The effluent was collected at two stages of treatment viz. anaerobic treatment (AE) and tertiary treatment (TTE). The basic effluent properties were obtained by standard methods. The chemical resistance to hydrochloric acid, sulphuric acid and sea water attack were studied. The weight loss and strength loss of concrete specimens after immersion were noticed for 3 months in regular interval. The anaerobic treated effluent is found to be producing good resistance to aggressive environments when compared with potable water and tertiary treated effluent. The fly ash samples showed better resistance in all the three environments.
