Abstract Data accuracy and energy efficiency are the two vital QoS(Quality of Service) factors of wireless sensor networks. In many previous approaches, energy efficiency is achieved at the cost of reduced data accuracy. This work aims at defining an energy efficient and reliable data gathering with optimal accuracy in WSN using compressive sensing and dominating set approaches. The nodes are first divided into multiple clusters. Each cluster is represented by a CH node that collects data from the member nodes. Instead of all the sensor nodes, only a fraction of sampler nodes communicate with the CH. Based on the sensor nodes energy and sensor node's stability, sampler nodes are selected. These sampler nodes deliver their data to the CH using compressive sensing method. The correlation between the sampler and non-sampler nodes is used to estimate the un-sampled data from the sampled data.
