Employee Attrition-Cause and Remedy: A Study on SMES IT Companies in Madurai City, Tamil Nadu using Structural Equation Modeling Technique (SEM)

Abstract

Employee attrition is seen everywhere in all the industries. Interesting, the IT sector witnesses unexpected state in attrition. This may be volunteer or by the policies of the companies. There are numerous reasons in both sides. However, there are some basic factors which considered being crucial in accelerating attrition in those companies. The researchers selected eleven such crucial critical factors and observed 92 variables under the factors to evaluate its significant contribution and tendency towards attrition. To construct a questionnaire in this regard, Hackman and Oldham model was taken and slight modifications were incorporated to suit to this study. SEM was employed to evaluate the model's goodness of fit. Considering the values obtained from the SEM, the model was found to be fit to study the attrition not only in Indian condition, but also in the International organizations.
