Abstract Entrepreneurship was typical intentional behavior which was determined by various situational factors. Nurturing entrepreneurship has become a high priority task for all educational institutions. In this competitive environment and technological advancement era it is important to create a conducive condition for all startup's as they are the future blue chips of the nation. Spirit of entrepreneurship has to be imparted to all the students, irrespective of programme. Mentor has major role in igniting the entrepreneurial spirit among students. Desire for secured job and attractive package in campus placement reduces the aspiration of students to become entrepreneur. Today's educator has to understand the importance of entrepreneurship. The author intends to study influence of demographic and family background on the students to become entrepreneurs. These were explored with a questionnaire and review the significance of mentoring in entrepreneurship and connection of programme (degree/course) in developing entrepreneurship interest. Descriptive statistics, ANOVA and multiple regressions are used. The study identified the impact of demographic, economic status, programme perusing and support from parents which influences students to become entrepreneur.
