Abstract Most of the human diseases are due to polluted water resources. So water purification is essential one. Among the various purification methods, the solar still contribution is highly appreciated. The different thermal energy storage materials are used in these still such as cow dung cakes, barks and charcoal. The energy storage materials induced the rate of evaporation and enhanced the distillation. The experimental results proved that the still using charcoal as energy storage material is proved with the highest production. From this experiment, the rate of discharge for charcoal, barks and cow dung cakes are 246%, 194% and 175% respectively than the conventional one.
