Multi Criteria based Task Scheduling in Cloud Environment Kumar P., Anand Sheila Professor, Rajalakshmi Engineering College, Chennai, India Online published on 9 November, 2016. Abstract Cloud computing is a type of distributed system that consists of a collection of interconnected and virtualized computers which are dynamically provisioned based on user requests. One of the fundamental challenges in cloud computing is task scheduling which maps user requests to appropriate resources. Efficient task scheduling mechanisms should be capable of meeting the user requirements while improving the resource utilization to enhance the overall performance of the cloud computing environment. This paper presents a novel approach for load balancing which aims at task scheduling with efficient provisioning of the cloud resources. This paper looks at balancing the task load among the different VMs; trying to equally spread the load on each computing node while maximizing their utilization and minimizing the total task execution time and cost. It is proposed to use ABC algorithm for scheduling the tasks in the cloud environment. The proposed work was simulated using Cloudsim toolkit package. The performance of the proposed approach was compared with Ant Colony Optimization (ACO) and FIFO based algorithms and the results obtained have been presented. Top Keywords Scheduling, Cloud, load balancing, cloudsim, execution time. Top | |
