Enhancement of Solar Power Tracking in Photovoltaic using Fuzzy Logic Controller

Abstract

The necessity for electricity is increasing day by day all over the world but its production is not increasing as per the requirements mainly due to diminishing of conventional fossil-fuel energy sources, renewable energy sources such as solar, wind, tidal etc. are pulling more attention as alternative energy sources. Among those Solar energy is desirable for power generation due to their abundant presence and ecofriendly nature. The major obstacle of solar power generation is their initial investment. This research will focus on the effective implementation of solar photo voltaic power generation in rural areas at minimum possible cost. Experimental investigation and mathematical modelling will be done to evaluate the working of a solar photovoltaic (PV) with MPPT which involves modelling, simulation and testing on a prototype at laboratory scale. Due to the nonlinear characteristics of PV arrays and the revolution of the earth around the sun, demanded the application of maximum power point tracking (MPPT) to the system. Manifold photovoltaic modules serving a common load is the ultimate form of power supply used in solar PV systems. In order to track the solar energy emitting from the sun, the PV modules are attached with a Maximum Power Point Tracker using Fuzzy logic controller is proposed to study and implement.
