Development and Validation of Employee Engagement Scale

Abstract

This research study started with an intention to construct a scale for measuring rational and emotional employee engagement. It is crucial to identify engaged employees as rational & emotional. Because, the needs of those two category employees will differ and also HR in need to identify and implement appropriate drivers for organizational excellence. The purpose of this study was to develop an instrument and validate with appropriate techniques which was discussed in the analysis section. In addition, the research also used selected drives to identity its impact drivers of employee engagement. A pilot study was conducted in order to prove scale's reliability and validity. A data were collected from IT sector employees and analysed with SPSS 23 for exploratory analysis, as the data were non normal distribution Visual PLS was used to examine the measurement and structural model. Based on the examination, validity and reliability were proved and satisfied the criteria and drivers like job, communication and performance appraisal have greater impact on engaged employees.
