Abstract Broadcast is a basic networking operation that allows a source node to send a message to all other nodes in the network. In the perspective of wireless networks, all communications are done over a wireless medium. Since network nodes are inadequate in energy and computational power, an efficient broadcast mechanism is extremely essential for the overall network performance. In Dense networks the number of nodes is always high and transmission may take more time. To avoid this delay, the network is divided into clusters and a cluster head is chosen among each cluster. The broadcast node of inter clustered network transmits message to head node of intra clusters and by that the entire network is covered. The optimized cluster head is selected using the Genetic Algorithm (GA). Nodes previously elected as cluster head are thus prevented from immediate reelection to conserve energy. Using Cluster based TSS approach the broadcast nodes are ranked and ordered with time slots and the intra cluster head transmits message to their nodes thus by covering entire network with low delay. The metrics considered to analyze the performance of this algorithm are latency, hop count, reachability, number of retransmission and delivery ratio and a comparison is done applying on both sparse and dense networks with and without GA.
