Parallel Active Filter for Twelve Pulse Controlled Rectifier based on Predictive Current Control

Abstract

Twelve pulse controlled rectifier's (TPCR's) are mainly employed by regulated power supplies owing to its accurate performance. With symmetrical/asymmetrical firing to every one of its series connected six pulse converter present in the TPCR, grid current harmonics is introduced and the power factor is degraded. This paper aims at dealing with the grid current harmonics, which is a double-nested predictive current control (DNPC) compensation and a parallel active filter (PAF) used is presented for TPCR. The DNPC scheme makes use of a vector resonant controller, and the PAF which operates in the form of an equivalent multiband rejection filter which is in parallel between the nonlinear loads and the grid source, rejecting the chosen harmonics components to flow from the load side into the grid side. A sequential process for implementing these DNPC technique in MATLAB/Simulink environment is demonstrated. Moreover, an elaborate analysis over the performance and then the comparison of performance is provided in the research work.
