Diversity, Distribution and Taxonomic Studies of Acridoid Fauna (Orthoptera) of Aligarh Fort, Uttar Pradesh, India

Abstract

The observations were recorded during the period of January, 2011 to December 2011, by periodical weekly visits to Aligarh Fort. 29 species representing 21 genera belonging to 3 tribes, 7 subfamilies and three families have been recorded from this region. The family Acrididae has the largest species representation (14 species) followed by Catantopidae (10 species) while Pyrgomorphidae is represented by five species only. Maximum Diversity has been recorded in the month of August, September and October whereas distribution of five species recorded throughout the year.
