Online published on 2 January, 2017. Abstract A survey was conducted in Shivamogga and Davanagere districts of Karnataka during 2013–14 to know the incidence of rice root-knot nematode. The survey indicated that, there is incidence of rice root-knot nematode in all the taluks of Shivamogga and Davanagere districts. Severe incidence of rice root-knot nematode was observed with root-knot index of 4 in Shivamogga taluk and moderate to severe incidence was recorded in Badravathi taluk with root-knot index of 3.3 and moderate incidence was recorded in taluks viz., Shikaripur, Sagara, Theerthahalli, Soraba and Hosanagara of Shivamogga district with root indices varing between 2 and 3. While in taluks of Davanagere district, viz., Honnali, and Davanagere recorded root-knot index varying from 2 to 3 whereas; Harihara Jagalur, Channagiri and Harapanahalli taluks showed least root-knot index of 1 to 2.
