Email: pnibeagha@yahoo.com Abstract This study has examined the role of absence of the father on gender identity formation and moral development among sons and daughters. One hundred and thirty five subjects participated in this study. The results indicate no significant difference between the gender-identity formation between father absent and father present children. A significant difference in moral development between the two groups was however observed. The practical implications of the findings for rearing children in father absent homes have been discussed.
