Online published on 29 February, 2024. Abstract Periodontics is a rapidly evolving field of dentistry with major changes occurring during the last five decades. The transition from use of a radical gingivectomy for the elimination of periodontal pockets to the use of flap surgeries and different regenerative measures is indicative of such change.The introduction of microsurgery has helped the periodontists in treating the patient in a conservative manner using enhanced visibility of the surgical field and minimizing surgical wounds to achieve a favorable treatment outcome.Microsurgical equipments help to enhance normal vision through magnification along with favorable lighting enabling to perform precise periodontal surgical procedures.The aim of this paper is to providean overview of the potential advantages of periodontal microsurgery and microsurgical concepts used in periodontics.
