Abstract

The aim of this present study was to evaluate the changes in the facial profile resulting concurrent to the use of anterior inclined plane. Ten patients with Class II division 1 malocclusion (underdeveloped mandible) in the age range of 8–11 years were selected. Pre-treatment and post-treatment lateral cephalograms were evaluated for the changes in soft tissue profile. The post treatment cephalograms were taken at 10 ±2 months. Five angular and sixteen linear soft tissue parameters were measured. Increase in nasolabial angle, Merifields ‘Z’ angle, decrease in H angle, increase in Pog-Pog’, Me-Me’, and anterior facial height were observed in all cases. The favorable soft tissue changes that were noticed clinically are well supported by cephalometric changes.
