Online published on 7 December, 2011. Abstract Although soft lining materials are widely used in prosthetic dentistry, their properties are far from ideal. This article presents a review of these materials, including their clinical indications, composition, structure, behavioural characteristics, and limitation. In spite of many efforts their properties do not fulfill all clinical requirements. It is evident that further research and development is necessary to achieve a material with optimum properties.
