Abstract Purpose To compare the effect of storage duration on percent water sorption and tensile bond strength of four silicone-based auto polymarised resilient liners. Materials and method Four silicone based resilient liners were compared: Elite Soft Relining, Ufigel P, GC Reline soft and Mollosil. To evaluate water sorption, 80 bar shaped specimens were fabricated with help of custom metal mold. After fabrication, the specimens were stored in artificial saliva. Then wet weight and desiccated weight of the specimens were recorded after 1st day, 1st, 2nd and 4th weeks to calculate the percent water sorption. For tensile bond strength, 80 specimens were fabricated. Acrylic cylinders were made and soft denture liners were processed between two cylinders using custom metal mold. After fabrication the specimens were stored in artificial saliva. After 1st day, 1st, 2nd and 4th weeks the specimens were tested in Universal Testing Machine at a crosshead speed of 5mm/min. Results For water sorption the results showed no significant differences among the resilient denture liners. While for tensile bond strength the result showed significant difference among reline materials and significant decrease in bond strength after 4th week in elite soft material. Conclusion GC Reline soft showed better results as compared to other soft denture liners. Top Keywords sorption, bond strength, tissue conditioner, resorbed ridge, sore spot. Top |
