Abstract

The human characteristics of curiosity, wonder and ingenuity are as old as mankind. Recent years, have witnessed an unprecedented growth in research in the area of nanoscience. There is an increasing optimism that nanotechnology applied to medicine and dentistry shall bring significant advances in diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease1. Nanotechnology is applied to various medical fields like in pharmacological research, in clinical diagnosis, improving respiratory capacity, supplementing immune system and repairing brain damage. Other applications include mechanically reversing artherosclerosis, enabling near-instantaneous hemostasis, rewriting or replacing DNA sequences in cells and resolving gross cellular insults. However, nanodentistry still faces many significant challenges in realizing its tremendous potential.
