Abstract

The success of complete denture depends on the comfort, esthetics and function in the patient's mouth. The soft denture bearing mucosa is confined between the hard denture base and bone. Permanent soft lining materials are long-term resilient materials attached to the impression surface of a denture, forming a cushion between the denture and the underlying tissue. This article presents a review of these materials, including their, clinical indications, limitations and laboratory processing of long term soft relining materials. Water sorption and longetivity seems to be two big problems with Permanent Soft Relining materials. It is evident that further research and development is necessary to achieve a material with optimum properties.
