Abstract

An avulsion injury in permanent dentition is a challenge to manage. Replantation of avulsed tooth can restore esthetic appearance and occlusal function at the time of emergency treatment. However it is important to consider the physiological status of periodontal ligament, the stage of root development and length of extraoral time. If planned carefully, it is possible to delay the progressive replacement resorption and subsequent tooth loss after a long dry storage. This article presents management of a case with avulsed central incisors that were stored in dry condition for 12 hours. The replanted incisors retain their esthetic appearance and remain functional for 3 years with absence of any signs of replacement resorption.
