This study compares the surgical access and post operative recovery of two different incisions namely, the conventional Ward's 1 incision and the recently described comma incision. Material and Methods A total of 50 patients (25 in each incision group) were taken and various parameters like quality of surgical access, pain score, swelling, mouth opening and pocket depth were compared. Result Surgical access was statistically better with Comma incision. Pain was statistically less on post operative day 3 in Comma Incision Group. There was statistically highly significant difference in terms of mouth opening and pocket depth in two groups with better results in Comma incision. Conclusion Comma incision showed better surgical access, less pain, early recovery of mouth opening and better wound healing.
