Abstract

Fractures of the mandible represent the most common facial bone injuries, the angle being the most common site. Access to the mandibular body/angle area was usually achieved via an extraoral submandibular incision. Concern about esthetics has led to surgeons and patients favouring intraoral approaches. The Transbuccal Approach combines an intraoral incision along with a minimal extraoral stab incision.
