The onset and progression of root resorption are associated with risk factors related to the orthodontic treatment such as duration of the treatment, the magnitude of the force applied, the direction of the tooth movement and the method of force of application. Patient related risk factors are individual susceptibility on a genetic basis, some systemic diseases, anomalies in root morphology, dental trauma and previous endodontic treatment. The present study reviews the various risk factors for root resorption following orthodontic treatment. Top Keywords Root resorption, orthodontictreatment, risk factors, force. Top |
