Abstract

Aim

The sole aim of this study was to comprehensively evaluate the existing knowledge and awareness about Cone Beam Computed Tomography amongst general dental practitioner in Gwalior, India.

Materials & Methods

The present study was entirely based on a cross sectional viewpoint using a questionnaire. Firstly, a total of 50 private dental practitioners of Gwalior District, India were contacted and asked to fill the questionnaire. Response recorded and data was analyzed statistically to assess real-time knowledge and awareness level.

Statistical Analysis & Results

Statistical analysis was completed by statistical software Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS). The recorded data was subjected to appropriate statistical tests to obtain p values, mean, standard deviation, standard error an 95% CI. P ≤ 0.05 was considered as statistically significant. All participating clinicians were divided into 5 groups depending upon their age ranges. Total 6 practitioners were belonging to age group >75 years. 15 practitioners were belonging to the age range of 35–44 years consequently we can presume that most of the general dental practitioners were belonging to younger age groups. 70% of practitioners feel the necessity of having CBCT in the dental institution/territory hospital. 85% of practitioners believe that CBCT will be used in routine dental practice in the future. 92% of practitioners believe that dental surgery syllabus must include CBCT in final year. 71% of practitioners think that virtual implant placement by CBCT is helpful for clinicians.
