Abstract Aim The sole aim of this study was to comprehensively evaluate the existing knowledge and awareness about Cone Beam Computed Tomography amongst general dental practitioner in Gwalior, India. Materials & Methods The present study was entirely based on a cross sectional viewpoint using a questionnaire. Firstly, a total of 50 private dental practitioners of Gwalior District, India were contacted and asked to fill the questionnaire. Response recorded and data was analyzed statistically to assess real-time knowledge and awareness level. Statistical Analysis & Results Statistical analysis was completed by statistical software Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS). The recorded data was subjected to appropriate statistical tests to obtain p values, mean, standard deviation, standard error an 95% CI. P ≤ 0.05 was considered as statistically significant. All participating clinicians were divided into 5 groups depending upon their age ranges. Total 6 practitioners were belonging to age group >75 years. 15 practitioners were belonging to the age range of 35–44 years consequently we can presume that most of the general dental practitioners were belonging to younger age groups. 70% of practitioners feel the necessity of having CBCT in the dental institution/territory hospital. 85% of practitioners believe that CBCT will be used in routine dental practice in the future. 92% of practitioners believe that dental surgery syllabus must include CBCT in final year. 71% of practitioners think that virtual implant placement by CBCT is helpful for clinicians. Conclusion Within the limitations of the study authors concluded that the dentists knowledge and awareness about Cone Beam Computed Tomography was relatively fair.
