Abstract

An experiment was conducted during the rainy season of 1989 and 1990 to study the effect of different levels (@ 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60 and 70 Kg S/ha through gypsum) and sources (20 kg/ha S through ammonium sulphate and single superphosphate) on soybean to study the available nutrient content in different layers of soil (0–15, 15–30, 30–45 and 45–60 cm) after harvesting of soybean. Application of sulphur @ 30/40 kg/ha increased the availability of N, P and K in soil. Decrease in the avilability of N (medium to low level) and K (high to medium level) was observed after harvesting of soybean. While the avilability of P was increased. Amongst different sources of sulphur, use of ammonium sulphate gave higher availability of N and K. Whereas gypsum application increased the P status in the soil.
