Online published on 22 February, 2013. Abstract Effects of treatment with 0.21% urea, 1% single super phosphate separately and in combination on decomposition of wheat internodes, wheat leaves, wheat chaff and straw by Trichoderma lignorum was investigated in vitro for 30 days. Wheat leaves showed maximum decomposition followed by chaff, straw and wheat internodes in control as well as treated flasks. Treatment with urea as well as single super phosphate increased the rate of decomposition but it was higher in the case of urea-treated residues. However, treatment with combination of urea and single super phosphate resulted in much more increase in the rate of decomposition as compared to that with urea or single super phosphate alone. As far as separate parts are concerned, wheat internodes exhibited very good response to urea and SSP treatment followed by mixed straw.
