Abstract The physico-chemical and biological analysis of water in the paddy fields of Thoubal District with reference to phytoplankton Zooplankton, fish fauna and benthic macro invertebrate is reported. The dynamic structure and composition of the biota in different seasons is regarded as a key to the prevailing ecological and environmental condition of the water body. It is observed that the water in the paddy fields in the study area receive more stress from sewage and organic effluents since no proper irrigation system in the paddy field.
