Abstract

The Higher Himalayan region is well known for rich and diverse natural bio-resources. In order to utilize and conserve such natural resources, it is important that resources can be harnessed efficiently to meet the requirement of local peoples. The policy makers need to develop a holistic sustainable developmental planning for ecological and economic development without ignoring the potential of natural bio-resources. They also insure wide in-situ production and development of elite source through due emphasis on genetic improvement, mass scale propagation, plantation, awareness, proper utilization and sustainable harvesting with economic and ecological potentials.
