Online published on 15 October, 2015. Abstract Healthier workers are valuable human resources of industrial sector. Nutrient intake pattern of women industrial workers was evaluated during 2002–02 at Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh. Three hundred workers were selected by random sampling procedure from various textile industries of Kanpur city. The workers were grouped according to their age, income and socio-economic status. The nutrient intake pattern was assessed with the help of a 24-hour recall questionnaire using standardized cups. Comparisons were made with the RDA (Recommended Dietary Allowances) charts approved by Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR). Results indicated poor intake of essential nutrients in the sample studied. Significant variations were found depending on age, income and socio-economic status. The condition of workers in the low income group was the worst. Necessary steps were suggested and a nutrition education package was prepared for improving the nutrient intake of industrial workers.
