Effect of plant geometry on growth and yield of ajowain (Trachyspermum ammi) cultivar ‘AzadAjowain-1’ Tripathi SM, Dwivedi AK Department of Horticulture, C.S. Azad University of Agriculture and Technology, Kanpur-208 002, (Uttar Pradesh), India Online published on 15 October, 2015. Summary A field experiment was conducted during rabi season of 2003–04 to find out the optimum row and plant spacing for ajowain cv ‘Azad Ajowain-1’. The results revealed significantly higher plant height (115.1 cm), more primary branches (6.33 plant−1) and maximum number of umbels (44.0 plant−1) at the wider spacing of 40 cm x 25 cm. However, these growth parameters were minimized at closer spacing of 20 cm x 15 cm. Significantly higher seed yield (1015 kg ha−1), biological yield (7080 kg ha−1) and harvest index (14.33) were obtained at 30 cm x 15 cm row spacing than rest of the treatments.
