Abstract

The presence of pesticide residues in agricultural soil ecosystems has raised concerns about their potential impacts on soil rhizospheric processes, which play a vital role in plant growth, development, nutrient dynamics and soil health. It emphasizes the dynamic nature of the rhizosphere and highlights its significance in nutrient acquisition, microbial dynamics, and soil-plant-microbe interactions. Nowadays the focus shifts to pesticide residue, exploring its sources, persistence, and accumulation in soil ecosystems. The various pesticide application methods and their potential to impact the rhizospheric environment are discussed. Further, the fate and behavior of pesticide residues in the soil, including adsorption, leaching, and degradation processes, are examined to understand their potential effects on the rhizosphere. The influence of pesticide residues on rhizospheric microbial communities, including changes in diversity, abundance, and activity, is also explored, which contribute to plant growth and ecosystem functioning. Furthermore, root exudates play a crucial role in shaping the rhizospheric environment by influencing microbial communities and nutrient availability. The implications of pesticide residue on soil-plant-microbe interactions, including symbiotic associations and pathogenic interactions, are also discussed. We have highlighted the understanding of the relationship between pesticide residue and rhizospheric processes in the soil ecosystem. It underscores the potential implications of pesticide residues on nutrient availability, microbial communities, root exudation, and soil-plant-microbe interactions within the rhizosphere.
