Abstract

This systematic review was designed and conducted in an effort to study the Gender Dimension of Climate Smart Agriculture (CSA) in Hills. To identify pertinent literature searched four electronic databases (Cera, Science direct, EBSCO, Google scholar). The search strategies combined terms for gender dimension, climate change, CSA and women farmer in hills. Total 56 studies were reviewed and integrated into this article. Careful attention to the concerns raised, will hopefully lead to the design and conduct of high-quality research projects and their writeup. The review found that CSA in Uttarakhand still faces a number of challenges, including: lack of CSA knowledge among women farmers, lack of clear conceptual understanding, limited enabling policy and financing. There is an urgent need to understand the environmental, economic and social challenges in the context of climate change, and consequently self-mobilize to develop and implement responsive policies at appropriate scales.
